Cell Phone Talk

It never ceases to amaze me to see people talk on cell phones who are oblivious to the many ears listening-in on their conversations.

I happened to have arrived to school 45 minutes early before my next class and decided to have my salad I picked up at Wendy's for dinner. I sat under the umbrella'd table just outside of the cafeteria. Ignoring the left over burger stains, dried katsup marks, and syrup-like coke spills, I stomached my salad while an Asian-looking gal invaded my hearing space with her valley-girl conversation. My ears were bleeding. My eyes were undoubtedly stabbing her in the gut but she was too air-headed to know. She stood in front of an elevator shaft covered with glass windows all around. She was too in love with herself to be aware of her surroundings. She was putting on a show while talking on the phone. I doubt she even knew what her conversation was about. Her only reply most of the time was, "Are you serious?" I withheld from shouting several times, "YES...SHE'S F-ING SERIOUS...NOW GET OFF THE DAMN PHONE!"

It has become my #1 pet-peeve. I need a life.

My Heart Goes Out to Virginia Tech

A Moment of Silence

Tonight I reflect on the images we have all seen in the past 24 hours about a senseless act which took place on a university campus thousands of miles away. While although we are not in close proximity of the location where this horrific massacre and great loss of life occured, we are in touch with those who have felt the greatest sorrows and pains; we are a in touch with the human spirit.

Our own sense of security was breached by a lone sole who regarded life so carelessly and etched April 16, 2007 in our memory forever.

Helplessly I sit and wonder what could have been; what should have been; and what might have been. Hopeful I stand and offer my prayers.

Whispering the words through the silence of the night; loudly I speak the cries of many. Guard one another from harm's way. Be watchful and mindful of your loved ones. As precious as life is, how quickly it is taken from us.

Not Quite In the Swing of Things (yet)

I don't know about you, but I still haven't been able to get back into the swing of things yet after returning from Spring Break! Perhaps it has everything to do with baseball and nothing to do with school. There's something to be said about the phrase "burn out." I am uncertain if that is what I'm experiencing but I have a strong feeling it is. You know you have to get your butt into gear when you see the Summer catalog already posted and you have yet to worry about Finals. Will this semester ever end?
